Using SiteSell's Name Park It! Service

Here's the basic information about accessing Name Park It! (NPI!) without an active SBI! site. This used to be a common question in the Choosing Domains SBI! forum I moderate, so I've expanded and updated those explanations for easy reference here as well.

You can park domains using (NPI!), before you order SBI to start building your site. You would just need to be a registered SBI! affiliate, i.e. a member of SiteSell's 5 Pillar Club.

The cost of each NPI! domain is US$11.99.

The Name Park It! help file provides more detailed explanations about parking domains, and using them.

Steps to Access NPI!, as a 5 Pillar Affiliate

• Activate your 5 Pillar membership, if you haven't already done so.
• Go to SiteSell's log-in page, & choose the "Login 5 Pillar Club" button.
• Use the Quick Jump Menu (the white bar) to scroll down to Name Park It!
• Then follow SiteSell's instructions to buy your domains from there.
• It's a two-step process to park a domain: first you make the payment to SiteSell, using the Purchase New Domain to Park option, then go back to NPI! & enter the details to complete the domain registration process. This is when you actually select and register your preferred domain/s.
• You have to buy each domain separately with NPI!, so you won’t be able to make one payment for all the domains, to register them together.

Important Notes

Existing domains cannot be transferred into Name Park It!, only available domains can be purchased and parked in NPI!

Once registered, you cannot transfer your NPI! domain to another registrar, for 60 days after initial registration. (This applies to any Registrar, it's not SiteSell's rule).

Domain Ownership and Transfers Away

You always own the domains you purchase through SiteSell. You can also transfer the domain to any other registrar, once the mandatory new domain registration waiting period has expired. The domain just needs to be unlocked by SiteSell Support.

I've done a lot of domain changes for SBI! sites over the years, sometimes those procedures involve transferring domains to or from SiteSell's registrar (TUCOWS). I've never had any problems moving domains away from SBI! to another registrar.

I've used many other registrars for parking domains. Here's a comparison between NPI! and a few of the other domains registration services I've used over the years. I like using NPI! because SiteSell offers free WHOIS privacy for all domains registered through them, which is a nice bonus. Many other registars charge an additional annual fee for this service.

Once the NPI! domain is unlocked by SiteSell Support, just start the transfer away procedures with your new registrar and follow those instructions.

Upgrading NPI! to A Full SBI! Site

There's no waiting period to upgrade a parked domain to a full SBI! site. Contact SiteSell Support using this special support form, to request the upgrade.

Once you've built your home page, you'll get access to SBI!'s Site Central. There's a quick access link/button directly to Name Park It!, in the SBI! BusinessCenter for future reference.
