Website Photos

Here are some excellent sources for low cost photos, for your website:

When you use photos on your website, make sure you "optimize" your website images as well, by including appropriate descriptions, "alt. attributes" and preferably a title tag as well, for the search engines. Optimizing your website images can also be a good traffic generation strategy, for referrals from image searches (for example, from Google Images).

Using Video

To prepare videos, I use VideoStudio. If you haven't used video before, there is a bit of a learning curve! For Site Build It! owners, SiteSell provides a series of tutorials and explanatory articles in their Tips and Techniques Headquarters (TNT HQ).

Although there are many free video hosting services available, it looks more professional to use a paid service without ads. So I use WVZ - WebVideoZone. You can see an example of the video quality and hosting with the video from SiteSell below, as it's their preferred & recommended hosting service. Their recommendation was good enough for me!

Creating PDFs

I use Nitro PDF Professional an alternative to Adobe's Acrobat®to prepare many of my documents. It looks more professional than sending regular Word documents to clients.

It's also very useful for preparation of contracts and e-books. I just prepare documents like my business contracts, etc. in Word & then convert them to a PDF, in a couple of minutes (or even less, if it's a basic document!)

I also use my Nitro PDF Professional creator quite regularly now, to create extra backup copies of online documents instead of printing them. It's very easy to use!

HTML Editor

Here's my preferred Make Your Content PREsell -- it makes it really easy to build and save your pages, when building your SBI! website.

Coffee Cup also has a Visual Editor (WYSIWYG), as well as a Code Editor. The "Preview Pages" function also allows you to check and test your pages in your browser, prior to uploading them.

I've tried lots of different HTML editors, over the years. There are many free HTML programs available, and others with trial versions, (and some very expensive ones too!) but they tend to add extra HTML coding where you don't want or need it, for your SBI! pages. But I didn't even wait for the trial period to end, with this one!

To Start Your Research - Use Search It!

Search It! is an excellent compilation of various webmaster tools that you can use for doing research and building your site.

There are tutorial pages to guide you through Search It! processes too. (Please make sure your pop-up blockers are off before using "Search It!", as it opens in a new, but much smaller browser window.)
